Evolution Dance Theater (EDT) is the leading organization for collaborative exchange between the professional modern dance community, students of dance, and patrons of the art form; creating an environment that encourages exploration and learning while inspiring the next generation of modern dancers and dance lovers.
Evolution Dance Theater consists of three distinct but interwoven environments:
* classrooms of regularly scheduled dance instruction employing experienced teaching artists and providing integrative training in modern and ballet techniques;
* visiting choreographers are infused into the learning environment through performances, master classes, open rehearsals and exchanges with the community; at the same time, choreographers are encouraged to utilize their residency at EDT to develop new work in a exploratory environment;
* a performance space is home to visiting artists, students, and the community; within this intimate space, these groups are encouraged to present, participate in and view cutting edge choreography.

Nancy Zander—School Activities and Teaching Artist Liaison
Nancy Zander has been teaching a loyal dance following of all ages for over fifteen years. She was on the teaching staff in classical ballet at Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, and owned her own dance exercise franchise in Bedford Hills. While at NWCA, she choreographed, founded the Parents Dance Guild for fund raising, directed the Dance Intensive Summer Camp. In 2005, she formed the Artist Liaison Committee which became the full time position of Arts Education Coordinator. She produced the "Fall Into the Arts" fund raiser, and worked annually in conjunction with the Moscow State Ballet as their children's ballet mistress for their lavish productions of the "Great Russian Nutcracker". She was awarded dance Volunteer of the Year award for two years running. After NWCA closed in the fall of 2005, she was asked to bring a dance program into the Harvey School Arts Center Program. During it's year and a half run at Harvey, she has tripled enrollment in the program, and with all best wishes from The Harvey School, decided to move on and with Ms. Colaco and Eggleston begin Evolution Dance Theater Incorporated.
She was trained as a dancer locally, then as a scholarship student in New York City at the New York School of Ballet. Under the direction of Richard Thomas and Barbara Fallis, she joined their professional training program, and performed with their company U.S.Terpsichore in the fall of 1975. She has trained with some of the finest dance teachers in the world, but gave up her performing career to get her degree in art history from Manhattanville College in 1979. A career in Fine Art followed, with various positions at Sotheby's in New York. From there she went on the run a world renowned gallery of American Nineteenth Century Paintings in the nineteen eighties. As Director of Alexander Gallery, she was responsible for all aspects of running the business and staff. Under her direction, the gallery produced ground breaking exhibitions and catalogues, and she was able to travel the world buying and selling art. After a brief stint as a director of another gallery on Madison Avenue, she started a family and opened her own antiques business. She immediately became a fixture on the antiques show circuit in New York City and Connecticut, but gave up the business to raise her family. Dance has remained the constant in Mrs. Zander's life, a passion now shared by her two daughters. She has lived in Katonah for over twenty years.
